OMG, will the Liberals ever stop with their dirty tricks?? Many of the good people of Geraldton certainly aren’t impressed with Abbott turning up in their town & making a media circus of the asylum seeker situation.
They don’t want to be thought of as rednecks such as the ones Tony Abbott dog whistles to. No wonder that ridiculous billbpoard was “vandalised”. It deserved to be.
These days, because anyone with a computer has access to excellent editing sites much wonderful mockery will be able to be made of this image & displayed throughout social media. This wasn’t so freely available in the bad old days of the “debt bus”. We can look forward to seeing some great manipulations, so much so that this might give the staffers, responsible for the LNP fear & loathing campaigns, something for them to *fear*.

Yes, Patricia, I believe it certainly is. Howard was prone to these sorts of dog whistles, as well, wasn’t he? As Abbott is a follower he is just following on from his beloved Master but is trying to outdo him by using Tea Party tactics & philosophies.
With the LNP there is nothing new. They don’t like any form of progress as they are stuck in the past where they feel most comfortable.
Having read a response by @Mansillo to a comment posted on his Blog, it struck me how whenever the pernicious strategies adopted by the Coalition are equated to Hitler and his Third Reich. Such arguments tend to be met with ire and then dismissed. This reaction typically stifles further discussions on the issues that underpin such comparisons. Given proponents are generally not referring to material factors of concentration camps or the evil of gas chambers as the final solution, the reaction is unwarranted. The substance of the argument relates to how the Coalition uses fear of the other as a tool to ramp up hatred which is exactly what Hitler did to unite and indoctrinate people into his way of thinking long before the advent of gas chambers and the final solution… The fact is the strategies used by Hitler actually do equate to those used by the opposition and therefore for the sake of clarity and to prevent history repeating, we must learn to discuss the unpalatable and not give in to overreaction whenever Third Reich analogies are argued.
Must say, I agree with you iwhisperloudly. The LNP screamed blue murder when it was pointed out that they are (successfully) using some of the tactics perfected by Joseph Goebbels Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany, particularly:-
“If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth”.
“The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it.” & the doozy
“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly – it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”
Do any of these tactics seem familiar?.
And that is why we “lefty luvvies” must “Comment” at every opportunity in MSM.
