Treated coal seam gas water will be pumped into Chinchilla‘s drinking supply, under a new scheme announced by Western Downs Regional Council.

QGC (formerly Queensland Gas Company) has announced it will begin pumping 80 megalitres of treated water a day to the Chinchilla weir, for use in agriculture and for domestic purposes.

Western Downs mayor, Ray Brown, said the water was safe to drink and while it would not ‘drought-proof’ Chinchilla, it would ensure water security.

  1. Western Downs Councillor McCutcheon says the pipeline will “mainly provide water for beneficial use by the agricultural and industrial sectors” and states “some water will also be made available to supplement the Chinchilla town water supply”.
If all the CSG water goes through one pipeline into one weir how does Council propose to separate it so that only “some” of the water gets into the town supply”

      No worries Jim.

Just have a look at Murdoch's saturday edition of "The Courier Mail" and you will soon see that Des Houghton ,Murdoch's extreme right wing whiner (Sirromet) in that publication , is telling all Queenslanders how "lucky" we are to have all this briny water for "free".

  2. WHAT, could possibly go wrong…………….?

  3. Looks like the people of Chinchillia are going to be unwitting guinea pigs.

The towns people may have to get together and have an independent water analysis.

Unless of course people in area have already been drinking the bore water for a long time
